Falkenbergs VBK B – Lunds VK B 1-3 (28-26, 21-25, 14-25, 16-25)
On Sunday the 10th of December we had our second last game before Christmas against the team who was currently in the bottom of Division 1, Falkenbergs VKB B. The game was a bit more tense than we hoped for, but in the end we managed to take all the points home to Lund.
The preparation for this game was really good. After the disappointing game against Göteborg, we were determined to get another win. After helping out Herrar A in their practice on Thursday, we felt completely ready for the game.
After we left Lund on Sunday, the first snow was visible along the roads and we even had quite some snow falling down from the sky. When we arrived in Falkenberg, we got to watch some elitserien practice before our game. After an intense warm-up including running up and down lots of stairs, we were ready to start the game.
During the first set we unfortunately started off a bit too easy. We made too many own mistakes, didn’t put enough pressure on the opposing team, which resulted in a 28-26 loss in the first set. After some energetic coaching from Roy and a lot of determination not to give Falkenbergs VBK B their first points of the season, we started the second set. Even though our volleyball was not perfect, we managed to reduce the amount of personal mistakes and win the second set 21-25.
Now all the nerves were gone and we started playing volleyball at a decent and consistent level. We managed to win both the third and fourth set relatively easy (14-25 and 16-25) and everyone got to play during these sets. So in the end we still managed to take all the points back home to Lund. Despite the rough start, I think we can be quite happy with this game. Every player in the team got to play and managed to contribute to the fourth win of the season!
MVP of the game: Lucas Gardebrand and Christian Svensson
A few words from coach Roy Andersson about the game:
”Efter en onödig setförlust i första set så spelade vi bra idag samtidigt som vi gick runt på alla tolv spelarna. Killarna hade väl varit och tittat på Herrar A och Damer A dagen innan och fått inspiration av dem – ’förlora första set och ta sedan tre raka set hyfsat komfortabelt’ :).”
Today (Saturday the 16th of December) we play our final home game before the Christmas break against Vindrarps VK, another important game to stay in the sub top of Division 1. I hope to see you all there at 16:45 in Fäladshallen C!
2-3 LUND!
