Dam A took the 16th win and thereby the league title!
Today at home in Lund our top women’s team took care of business against the 2nd seeded team in the league. RIG Falköping came into this weekend on a 9 game winning streak, so we have been excited to play this team for a few months.
Our 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-23) win today was based on a bend-but-don’t-break mentality in serve-receive because we knew that RIG usually has a high serving pressure, and then we wanted to be aggressive on offense making hard for RIG to feel comfortable.
Overall we were successful scoring 59 of the 75 points it took to win, and even though there were things we wish had been better, we can’t be unhappy with a 3-0 win at home against number 2 in the league.
MVP was Anna Westerlund who contributed 13 points today after 2 weeks break from injury. Topscorer however was Sara Hansson with 21 points, and the 3rd Lund player with double digit points was Lovisa Bergh also with 13 points.
With this win we now have a record of 16-1 and with 49 points – 17 points ahead of number 2 in the league, we are now champions of division 1 and have all but assured that we will play in the elite league next season.
We want to send out a huge thank you to sponsors, fans, friends, family and to the club for making this season possible. We are extremely proud of our performance this year, and equally grateful for the opportunity created by the hard work from our board and club members.. We win for you as well as for ourselves.
FORZA Lund!!
