The sun was shining bright on Lund’s B-Team as they drove their way up to the north of Skåne in order to meet the second squad of Örkelljunga. However, before that was going to happen we had taken the chance to see an eliteserien match of Örkelljunga’s mens team. A nice experience and Örkelljunga also kept three points at home. Of course, we were determined to not let this happen to their B-team.
The first meeting of our was rather one sided in our favor but now Örkelljunga appeared more focused and also brought one of their A-teams spikers to the court. Especially in the first set the hosts started with several good serves that put our reception in front of huge problems. Hence, Örkelljunga quickly good a 5 points lead. It took us a while to gain our concentration back and put things in order again. Stopping their pro player with tight blocks left them rarely a chance to get a good attack. Eventually, we won the first set (only) by 18 points. Unfortunately, the second set followed an equal pattern. Both our serve reception and our offense were too inattentive to score simple points. Also Örkelljunga’s young team really showed they have some talents among them. Nevertheless, we won the second set as well.
In the third set we showed more of our skills, especially with a constant serve pressure, which was too much for Örkelljunga. Consequently, we won the last set with a deserved 25-10 lead. We are of course happy about the next three points but we realized that no physical team but our own concentration is the hardest opponent. For the upcoming challenges we definitely need to overcome it.
Matchensledare of this game was Jonathan (Pean) Persson. He was by far the most stable player on the field and scored several points as a right wing but also occasionally pushed the team as a setter. These three points were not the most deserved ones but we still take them and are very much looking forward to meet the top team Engelholm B in two weeks here in Lund. Until then: TVÅ, TRE LUND!
